The aim of the repository is to provide the infrastructure for archiving, long-term preservation, wide dissemination and open access, when possible, to publications and other research outputs resulting from the projects and other activities implemented by the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA) and its institutes.

Along with the national and international research community, the Designated community of DAIS includes a more general audience, in particular teachers, university and secondary school students, journalists, and citizen scientists, who may use the Open Access resources, which account for more than 90% of the repository's content.

The repository implements standard protocols for metadata and data sharing and ensures long-term care and preservation of born digital and digitized resources.

In line with their mission and the role of publicly funded institutions, SASA, SASA institutes, and the University of Belgrade Computer Centre (RCUB), as the service provider, seek to provide reliable and secure archiving for diverse outputs of SASA and its institutes and their preservation in the long term, while ensuring an easy access and widest dissemination of the Open Access content.

DAIS responds to the requirements of national and international funding bodies to share the outputs of publicly funded research. DAIS is compliant to the Open Science Platform of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia.
